Distinguish Kansas and Colorado, identify which police or sheriff agency created the report, and request incident records without substituting a background check.
Match the report to the responding agency
Start with the agency name on the incident card, accident exchange sheet or prior correspondence. Sedgwick County is a county name in both Kansas and Colorado; a Wichita contact will not locate a Julesburg report.
Kansas: county sheriff
For reports handled by deputies, Sheriff Records is listed at 316-660-3888. The sheriff’s KORA Compliance Unit handles formal records requests at [email protected] or 316-660-3880.
Kansas: Wichita police
The county’s non-emergency directory lists the Wichita Police Department Case Desk at 316-268-4221. Use that agency when Wichita officers handled the incident; being inside the county does not make it a sheriff case.
Colorado: Sedgwick sheriff
The official Colorado sheriff page lists 970-474-3355 and 315 Cedar St., Suite 320, Julesburg, CO 80737. Ask that office for its report-request procedure and applicable charge. The Kansas contacts and KORA workflow below apply only in Kansas.

Describe one identifiable event
Give the report number if known, date or narrow date range, location and type of incident. Include a way to reach you about clarification or delivery. A request for every record about a name can miss the specific report you need.

Send it to the report custodian
The county records FAQ says Sheriff Records supplies accident reports worked by sheriff deputies. When different county departments hold different items, make separate requests for those departments.

Clarify the requested material
Specify the incident or accident report and ask whether releasable attachments are included. Confirm the available format and any cost before ordering additional material. Do not assume the existence of a case number makes the full investigative file public.
Check whether you need a report, court outcome or history
